This guide covers the most common cause of a non-working horn an the 72v and 80v RCR: a loose or disconnected horn connector at the horn itself. The stock horn shown in the photo is the same style used on both the 72V and 80V models.
What you’ll check first
Most horn issues come down to the two wire connectors attached directly to the horn terminals coming loose.
Depending on the horn version you have, you may see:

Two separate individual connectors, or
-
Both connectors housed inside a protective shroud near the horn terminals
Step-by-step troubleshooting
Step 1: Locate the horn and inspect the connectors

Find the horn at the front of the bike (near the headlight area).

Look closely at the two wires that attach to the horn terminals.
Confirm both connectors are:
-
Fully seated on the terminals
-
Not partially slipped off
-
Not hanging loose inside the shroud (if yours has one)
What to look for:
Sometimes the connectors get pulled off the horn terminals if there isn’t enough slack in the wiring when the handlebars are turned.
This can also be caused by the zip tie on the brake line, you can cut the zip tie, then reposition the horn connector to have enough slack.
Step 2: Check for tension while turning the handlebars
With the bike powered off, slowly turn the handlebars:

Watch the horn wires while you do this.
If you notice the wires pulling tight, that tension can tug the connectors off over time.
Step 3: Pull more slack into the horn wiring
If the horn connectors seem tight or strained:

Gently pull a bit more slack from the bike’s wiring so the horn leads have breathing room.

Re-check that the wires still have slack with the bars turned fully left and right.
Goal: the horn wires should not be the “tightest point” when the bars are at full lock.
Step 4: Tighten the connector fit (if they feel loose)
If the connectors are on the horn terminals but feel loose:

Remove the connector from the horn terminal.

Using a pair of pliers, gently pinch the metal end of the connector (small squeeze).

Reinstall it onto the horn terminal so it fits more securely.
Important: pinch gently—just enough to improve grip.
Final check
After reseating and tightening the connectors:

Power the bike on.
-
Test the horn.
-
Turn the handlebars full left and right and test again to confirm the wiring stays stable in all positions.
