RCR 80v Turn Signal Troubleshooting Guide

RCR 80v Turn Signal Troubleshooting Guide

This guide explains how to diagnose and resolve turn signal issues on the RCR 80V. In many cases, problems with turn signals are caused by a loose flasher relay connection, not a failed bulb or wiring harness.

Common Turn Signal Symptoms

You may notice one or more of the following:

  • One front signal not working

  • A rear signal appearing dim

  • Only one side functioning correctly

  • Signals failing to blink or blinking inconsistently

Before replacing bulbs or wiring, check the flasher relay connection.

What the Flasher Relay Does

The flasher relay controls the blinking behavior of the turn signals. If this component becomes loose or disconnected, the signals may:

  • Stop working entirely

  • Become dim

  • Blink irregularly

  • Only partially function

The relay is a small module that plugs into a wire labeled “FLASHER.”

Step-by-Step Troubleshooting

Step 1: Remove a Side Panel

  1. Power the bike off.

  2. Remove one of the side panels to access the internal wiring.

  3. Carefully pull the panel away to expose the electrical components.

Step 2: Locate the Flasher Relay

  1. Look for a small black box module inside the bike.

  2. Locate the short wire labeled “FLASHER.”

  3. At the end of this wire you will see a small device plugged in.

It resembles a small flash drive or USB stick.

Step 3: Check the Connection

  1. Ensure the flasher relay is fully plugged into the connector.

  2. The connector may loosen due to vibration or handling.

  3. If it appears loose, firmly reseat the connector.

Step 4: Test the Turn Signals

  1. Turn the bike on.

  2. Activate the turn signals.

  3. While the signals are active, gently wiggle the flasher relay connection.

If the signals begin working normally, the issue was likely a loose connection.

Preventing Future Disconnects

The small connector on the flasher relay can occasionally loosen.

If the connection feels fragile or loose:

  • Secure the connector with electrical tape

  • Ensure the relay is positioned so it cannot vibrate free

This helps prevent the relay from disconnecting again.

Final Checks

After reseating the flasher relay:

  • Confirm both front signals operate normally

  • Confirm both rear signals blink evenly

  • Reinstall the side panel securely
