RCR 80V Controller Replacement Guide

This guide explains how to replace the controller on your RCR 80V.

Important: After installing the new controller, you must complete the Motor Calibration procedure before riding.

Tools Required

  • 2.5 mm Allen wrench (included with the bike)
  • 4 mm Allen wrench
  • 10 mm socket or wrench
  • 10 mm socket extension (recommended)

Step 1: Remove the Battery

  1. Remove the battery cover.
  2. Disconnect and remove the battery.
  3. Velcro the battery cables together so they stay out of the way.

Step 2: Remove the Side Panels

  1. Loosen the four 10 mm seat nuts slightly and slide the seat rearward.
  2. Remove the five 2.5 mm Allen bolts from each side panel.
  3. Remove both side panels.

Step 3: Disconnect the Controller

  1. Pull out the wiring harness and junction box on the left side for easier access.
  2. Disconnect the three controller connectors.
  3. Pull back the rubber boot to access the connector latch if needed.
  4. Remove the controller mounting ring using a 4 mm Allen and 10 mm socket.
  5. Remove the controller from the frame.

Step 4: Install the New Controller

  1. Connect all wiring to the new controller before mounting it into the bike.
  2. Connect the battery terminals:
    • Red (+) to Positive
    • Black (–) to Negative

Install the ring terminals in this order at 10 Nm:

  • Small ring terminal
  • Medium ring terminal
  • Large battery cable terminal

Repeat the same order for both the positive and negative terminals.

  1. Match the remaining connectors by their color labels.
  2. Mount the controller back into the frame and tighten the mounting hardware.

Step 5: Reassemble the Bike

  1. Reconnect all controller connectors until they fully click into place.
  2. Reinstall both side panels.

Tip: Start all five panel bolts by hand before tightening to avoid stripping the threads.

  1. Reinstall the wiring harness and junction box.
  2. Slide the seat forward and tighten the four 10 mm seat nuts.
  3. Reinstall the battery.

Important: Make sure the main battery connector is pushed in completely.

Step 6: Verify Operation

  1. Turn the bike on.
  2. Confirm the display powers on normally.
  3. Verify there are no error codes.

Step 7: Perform Motor Calibration (Required)

Failure to perform motor calibration may result in improper motor operation.
